I’m nervous about working with an interior designer, what should I know?

Home projects can be overwhelming. Working with the right interior designer that has an aesthetic you love and really listens should be an incredibly rewarding, stress-free process. In addition to helping you create a beautiful home, we are with you every step of the way. We help you to define your goals, set up a budget, and make the necessary connections and recommendations to help you hire the right contractors to complete the work.

What are your design fees?

Every project is unique and timelines can ebb and flow based on the needs of our clients. Design fees are accrued based on hours worked. We do not upcharge on the sale of furnishings and fixtures. We begin with an initial proposal where we review the scope of work, the budget, and an estimation of our design fees based on past projects. We are completely transparent with our clients and provide regular updates every step of the way.

How do I receive my designs? What if I don’t like something?

All designs are presented on vision boards with as many inspiration photos and samples as needed to help you visualize the initial design concept. We are a team and this is a collaborative process, and your feedback is critical to the success of your project. The designs will evolve as needed, which will allow us to achieve the perfect balance of your aesthetic and Indigo Interior Co.’s.

Will my home feel like me?

ABSOLUTELY! We are not doing our job if your perspective, lifestyle, and goals for the home are not reflected in all of our designs. Design is a collaborative process, and nothing is more satisfying for us than creating a space that genuinely represents our clients lives and stories. You are what makes this project unique.

What can an interior designer do for me? Do I still need an architect? How do you work with contractors?

Our focus as interior designer’s is the form and function of your space. We help you define and enhance the way you live in your home and determine what is needed to achieve it. An architect’s expertise is in building and structure. They will need to be in the loop to add or remove walls. Any contractor hired will build from the design plans provided by the architect and/or designer. We operate as part of team that is needed for your project.

How do we start?

It all starts with a conversation so please connect. We are always happy to discuss any questions or concerns. For local work, the first step is an in-home consultation. Together we will walk through your home and review the spaces. Be prepared to talk through any timeline, budget, and specific concerns. We use this information to craft our proposal for your project. Once the scope of work and terms are agreed upon, a signed proposal will be returned, and a kick off meeting can be scheduled.

I don't live in Connecticut, but want to work with you. What services are available for me?

We do offer interior design outside of Connecticut. These services do require the client to be more hands-on as we will rely on them for measurements, coordinating contractors, and installation. Despite the distance, we are committed to providing the same level of customer service and thoughtful design as we do locally. We will also extend any of our trade-only discounts as well as virtual hand holding every step of the way.
